About the 7th International Dialogue

7th International Dialogue on Population and Sustainable Development
Berlin, October 15-16, 2008

Culture and gender equality are critical determinants to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Human rights and equality are fundamental principles that enable a sensitive approach to the respective cultural environment. Progress on the MDGs depends on a multitude of factors, including an increased awareness of the relationship between human rights, gender equality and culture, which are also interlinked with good governance.

The 7th International Dialogue aims to address the importance of these interfaces in the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
The event will
- explore the existing links between SRHR and culture, gender equality and human rights,
- present promising examples from various countries to show how these factors have determined the course and success of measures to meet existing goals such as universal access to Reproductive Health.

Based on the information and experience shared amongst participants, the conference aims to deliver specific recommendations for German and international development policy
